 1-6                            A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

 1-7                                   AN ACT

 1-8     relating to the rights of a victim of a delinquent child.

 1-9           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

1-10           SECTION 1.  Subdivision (3), Section 57.001, Family Code, is

1-11     amended to read as follows:

1-12                 (3)  "Victim" means a person who as the result of[:]

1-13                       [(A)  is the victim of] the delinquent conduct of

1-14     a child suffers a pecuniary loss or personal injury or harm [that

1-15     includes the elements under the penal law of this state of sexual

1-16     assault, kidnapping, or aggravated robbery;]

1-17                       [(B)  has suffered bodily injury or death as a

1-18     result of the conduct of a child that violates a penal law of this

1-19     state; or]

1-20                       [(C)  is the owner or lessor of property damaged

1-21     or lost as a result of the conduct of a child that violates a penal

1-22     law of this state].

1-23           SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the

1-24     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an

1-25     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the

1-26     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several

1-27     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
