No. 330 1-2 (In the Senate - Filed January 28, 1997; February 3, 1997, 1-3 read first time and referred to Committee on State Affairs; 1-4 February 17, 1997, reported favorably by the following vote: Yeas 1-5 13, Nays 0; February 17, 1997, sent to printer.) 1-6 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-7 AN ACT 1-8 relating to the sunset review of the State Office of Administrative 1-9 Hearings. 1-10 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-11 SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 2003, Government Code, is 1-12 amended by adding Section 2003.023 to read as follows: 1-13 Sec. 2003.023. SUNSET PROVISION. The State Office of 1-14 Administrative Hearings is subject to review under Chapter 325 1-15 (Texas Sunset Act), but is not abolished under that chapter. The 1-16 office shall be reviewed during the periods in which state agencies 1-17 abolished in 2003 and every 12th year after 2003 are reviewed. 1-18 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the 1-19 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-20 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-21 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-22 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended, 1-23 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its 1-24 passage, and it is so enacted. 1-25 * * * * *
