By Ratliff S.B. No. 595 Substitute the following for S.B. No. 595: By Hightower C.S.S.B. No. 595 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-1 AN ACT 1-2 relating to Cooper State Park. 1-3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-4 SECTION 1. Chapter 22, Texas Parks and Wildlife Code, is 1-5 amended by adding Subchapter U to read as follows: 1-6 Subchapter U. COOPER STATE PARK 1-7 Sec. 22.281. JURISDICTION. Cooper State Park, located in 1-8 Delta and Hopkins counties, is under the jurisdiction of the 1-9 department. 1-10 Sec. 22.282. SIGNS. The Texas Department of Transportation 1-11 may not erect a sign that refers to: 1-12 (1) Cooper State Park by a name other than Cooper 1-13 State Park; or 1-14 (2) the lake at Cooper State Park without also making 1-15 reference to Cooper State Park. 1-16 Sec. 22.283. PUBLICATIONS. The state may not refer to the 1-17 lake at Cooper State Park without also making reference to Cooper 1-18 State Park in any state publication, including a map or brochure. 1-19 SECTION 2. This act takes effect September 1, 1997. 1-20 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the 1-21 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-22 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-23 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-24 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
