A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to the erection of sound barrier walls along certain parts
1-3 of Interstate Highway 610 in Houston.
1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-5 SECTION 1. As soon as practical, the Texas Department of
1-6 Transportation shall erect sound barrier walls along the west side
1-7 of Interstate 610 in Houston, from a point approximately 1/2 mile
1-8 south of the intersection of Interstate Highway 610 and Interstate
1-9 Highway 10 on the east side of Houston extending to a point located
1-10 approximately five-eighths of a mile to the south. The sound
1-11 barrier shall be designed to reduce highway noise for residences
1-12 located in the vicinity of Interstate 610 on the following streets
1-13 in Houston: Laurentide, Candy, Fannette, Berndale, Tilgham,
1-14 Cowart, Wiggins, Pattibob, Josie, Flossie Mae, Othello, Quaker, and
1-15 Guinivere.
1-16 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the
1-17 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-18 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-19 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-20 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
1-21 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
1-22 passage, and it is so enacted.
