AN ACT

 1-1     relating to certain reimbursements of expenses for members of the

 1-2     Texas State Board of Examiners of Marriage and Family Therapists.

 1-3           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

 1-4           SECTION 1.  Section 7, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

 1-5     Act (Article 4512c-1, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), is amended to

 1-6     read as follows:

 1-7           Sec. 7.  COMPENSATION. A member of the board may not receive

 1-8     compensation for serving on the board.  A member is entitled to the

 1-9     per diem as set by the General Appropriations Act [legislature] for

1-10     each day that the member performs functions as a member of the

1-11     board and[.  A member] is [not] entitled to reimbursement for

1-12     [travel] expenses [other than transportation expenses.  A member is

1-13     entitled to reimbursement for transportation expenses] as provided

1-14     by the General Appropriations Act.

1-15           SECTION 2.  This Act applies only to a travel expense

1-16     incurred on or after the effective date of this  Act.  A travel

1-17     expense incurred before the effective date of this Act is governed

1-18     by the law in effect on the date that it was incurred, and the

1-19     former law is continued in effect for this purpose.

1-20           SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the

1-21     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an

1-22     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the

1-23     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several

 2-1     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,

 2-2     and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its

 2-3     passage, and it is so enacted.
