1-6 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-7 AN ACT
1-8 relating to the creation of two county criminal courts in Denton
1-9 County.
1-10 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-11 SECTION 1. Subsection (a), Section 25.0631, Government Code,
1-12 is amended to read as follows:
1-13 (a) Denton County has the following statutory county courts:
1-14 (1) County Court at Law No. 1 of Denton County;
1-15 (2) County Criminal Court No. 1 of Denton County;
1-16 [and]
1-17 (3) County Criminal Court No. 2 of Denton County;
1-18 (4) County Criminal Court No. 3 of Denton County; and
1-19 (5) County Criminal Court No. 4 of Denton County.
1-20 SECTION 2. (a) This Act takes effect September 1, 1997.
1-21 (b) The County Criminal Court No. 3 of Denton County is
1-22 created September 1, 1997.
1-23 (c) Notwithstanding Subsection (a), Section 25.0631,
1-24 Government Code, as amended by this Act, the County Criminal Court
1-25 No. 4 of Denton County is created September 1, 1998.
1-26 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the
1-27 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-28 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-29 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-30 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
