AN ACT

1-1 relating to the donation of certain surplus or salvage state

 1-2 property.

1-3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

1-4 SECTION 1. Section 2175.301, Government Code, is amended by

1-5 adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:

1-6 (c) An agency in the legislative branch shall dispose of its

1-7 surplus or salvage property under a disposition system established

1-8 by the agency. This chapter does not apply to the agency's

1-9 disposition of its surplus or salvage property under that system.

1-10 That system shall give preference to transferring the property

1-11 directly to, in order of priority:

1-12                 (1)  a public school;

1-13 (2) another public governmental agency; or

1-14 (3) an assistance organization.

1-15 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the

1-16 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an

1-17 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the

1-18 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several

1-19 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,

1-20 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its

1-21 passage, and it is so enacted.
