 1-6                            A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

 1-7                                   AN ACT

 1-8     relating to authorizing the board of regents of The University of

 1-9     Texas System to acquire by purchase, exchange, gift, or otherwise

1-10     certain properties to be used for campus expansion and university

1-11     purposes in The University of Texas System.

1-12           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

1-13           SECTION 1.  The board of regents of The University of Texas

1-14     System is hereby authorized to acquire by purchase, exchange, gift,

1-15     or otherwise, for campus expansion and for other university

1-16     purposes, all or any part of the land described as:

1-17           1.  A tract of land containing 29.54 acres situated in the

1-18     City of Edinburg, Hidalgo County, Texas, being a part or portion of

1-19     LOT 15, SECTION 242, TEXAS-MEXICAN RAILWAY COMPANY SURVEY,

1-20     according to the map recorded in Volume 1, Page 12, Hidalgo County

1-21     Map Records, said 29.54 acres also being more particularly

1-22     described as follows:

1-23           BEGINNING at the northeast corner of said Lot 15 for the

1-24     northeast corner of this tract;

1-25           THENCE, S 9 05' W along the east line of said Lot 15, a

1-26     distance of 660.00 feet to the easternmost southeast corner of this

1-27     tract;

1-28           THENCE, N 80 55' W a distance of 660.00 feet to an inside

1-29     corner of this tract;

1-30           THENCE, S 9 05' W a distance of 660.20 feet to the centerline

1-31     of Schunior Road and the south line of said Lot 15, for the

1-32     southernmost southeast corner of this tract;

1-33           THENCE, N 80 53' W along the south line of said Lot 15, a

1-34     distance of 644.40 feet to the Southwest corner of said Lot 15 for

1-35     the southwest corner of this tract;

1-36           THENCE, N 9 05' E along the west line of said Lot 15, a

1-37     distance of 1320.00 feet to the northwest corner of said Lot 15 for

1-38     the northwest corner of this tract;

1-39           THENCE, S 80 55' E along the north line of said Lot 15, a

1-40     distance of 1305.50 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING, and containing

1-41     29.54 acres of land, more or less.

1-42           2.  Lots One (1), Two (2), Three (3), Four (4), Five (5), Six

1-43     (6), Seven (7), Eight (8), Nine (9), Ten (10), Eleven (11), and

1-44     Twelve (12), Block 2; Lots One (1), Two (2), Three (3), Four (4),

1-45     Five (5), and Six (6), Block 3; Lots One (1), Two (2), Three (3),

1-46     Four (4), and Five (5), Block 4; and Lots One (1), Two (2), Three

1-47     (3), Four (4), Five (5), Six (6), Seven (7), Eight (8), Nine (9),

1-48     and Ten (10), Block 5, HUGHES SUBDIVISION, adjacent to the City of

1-49     Edinburg, Hidalgo County, Texas, according to the map recorded in

1-50     Volume 9, Page 34, Map Records of Hidalgo County, Texas, and all

1-51     streets, alleys, alleyways, thoroughfares, and real property,

1-52     whether or not vacated, specifically including but not limited to

1-53     all those portions of Cooper and Elizabeth Streets, lying adjacent

1-54     to any such lots.

1-55           3.  Lots One (1), Two (2), Three (3), Four (4), Five (5), Six

1-56     (6), Seven (7), Eight (8), Nine (9), Ten (10), Eleven (11), and

1-57     Twelve (12), Block 1; Lots One (1), Two (2), Three (3), Four (4),

 2-2     Hidalgo County, Texas, according to the map recorded in Volume 9,

 2-3     Page 5, Map Records of Hidalgo County, Texas, and all streets,

 2-4     alleys, alleyways, thoroughfares, whether or not vacated,

 2-5     specifically including but not limited to all those portions of

 2-6     First, Second, Third and Fourth Avenues lying adjacent to any such

 2-7     lots.

 2-8           4.  Lots One (1), Two (2), Three (3), Four (4), Five (5), Six

 2-9     (6), Seven (7), Eight (8), Nine (9), Ten (10), Eleven (11), and

2-10     Twelve (12), Block 93, EDINBURGH ORIGINAL TOWNSITE, according to

2-11     the map recorded in Volume 1, Page 3, Map Records of Hidalgo

2-12     County, Texas, and all streets, alleys, alleyways, thoroughfares,

2-13     whether or not vacated, specifically including but not limited to

2-14     all those portions of Cooper and Elizabeth Streets, lying adjacent

2-15     to any such lots.

2-16           SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the

2-17     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an

2-18     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the

2-19     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several

2-20     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,

2-21     and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its

2-22     passage, and it is so enacted.
