No. 1556 By: Ogden 1-8 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-9 AN ACT 1-10 relating to the determination of the amount of child support for a 1-11 child of certain retired or disabled obligors. 1-12 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-13 SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 154, Family Code, is 1-14 amended by adding Section 154.132 to read as follows: 1-15 Sec. 154.132. DETERMINATION OF CHILD SUPPORT FOR CHILDREN OF 1-16 CERTAIN RETIRED OR DISABLED OBLIGORS. In determining the amount of 1-17 child support to be paid by an obligor for a child, the court is 1-18 not required to include or offset against the obligor's child 1-19 support obligation the amount or the value of social security 1-20 retirement child benefits or social security disability child 1-21 benefits paid or payable to the child. 1-22 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 1997. 1-23 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the 1-24 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-25 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-26 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-27 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended. 1-28 * * * * *
