 1-6                            A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

 1-7                                   AN ACT

 1-8     relating to the administration of the Uniform Act for out-of-State

 1-9     probationer and parolee supervision.

1-10           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

1-11           SECTION 1.  Section 3, Article 42.11, Code of Criminal

1-12     Procedure, is amended to read as follows:

1-13           Sec. 3.  The title of the officer designated by the Governor

1-14     under Subdivision (5) of the compact is [shall be entitled] the

1-15     Interstate [Parole] Compact Administrator for Probation and Parole.

1-16     The Interstate Compact Administrator  [and] is authorized to

1-17     appoint two Deputy Interstate [Parole] Compact Administrators, with

1-18     one deputy primarily responsible for issues dealing with

1-19     probationers and the other primarily responsible for issues dealing

1-20     with parolees.  The executive director of the Texas Department of

1-21     Criminal Justice or the executive director's designee is authorized

1-22     and directed to do all things necessary or incidental to the

1-23     carrying out of the compact in every particular.

1-24           SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the

1-25     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an

1-26     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the

1-27     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several

1-28     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,

1-29     and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its

1-30     passage, and it is so enacted.
