                            SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

 1-1           WHEREAS, The Legislature of the State of Texas takes pride in

 1-2     joining the residents of Tarrant County and the Coalition of

 1-3     Tarrant County Chambers of Commerce in declaring March 10, 1997,

 1-4     Tarrant County Day; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, Located in central North Texas, Tarrant County is a

 1-6     popular area for vacationing, and its cities are well known for

 1-7     their museums and the preservation of historic sites; and

 1-8           WHEREAS, Today, the flavor of the Old West is still inspiring

 1-9     in the ranch lands, museums, art, and recreational centers in

1-10     Tarrant County; and

1-11           WHEREAS, Known to many as "Where the West Begins," Tarrant

1-12     County is famous for its tourism centers such as the Fort Worth

1-13     Stockyards and the nationally known Six Flags Over Texas; and

1-14           WHEREAS, The county is flourishing economically and owes much

1-15     of its stability to the leadership provided by the Coalition of

1-16     Tarrant County Chambers of Commerce; the coalition represents more

1-17     than 7,000 business organizations throughout Tarrant County; and

1-18           WHEREAS, The coalition brings together 23 chambers of

1-19     commerce from throughout Tarrant County to support public policy

1-20     initiatives that meet the needs of employers, employees, clients,

1-21     and customers; and

1-22           WHEREAS, Noted for its many contributions to the overall

1-23     quality of life in Tarrant County, the Coalition of Tarrant County

1-24     Chambers of Commerce builds productive partnerships between the

 2-1     business community and local, state, and federal governments to

 2-2     provide for positive growth in business development; and

 2-3           WHEREAS, The members of the Coalition of Tarrant County

 2-4     Chambers of Commerce have greatly influenced the economic growth

 2-5     and vitality of Tarrant County, and the residents of Tarrant County

 2-6     have taken care to preserve its many amenities in the face of urban

 2-7     growth and industrial development; now, therefore, be it

 2-8           RESOLVED, That the 75th Legislature of the State of Texas

 2-9     hereby commend the people of Tarrant County on their achievements

2-10     and their contributions to our state and extend best wishes to them

2-11     for a joyous Tarrant County Day; and, be it further

2-12           RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be prepared for the

2-13     residents of Tarrant County and the Coalition of Tarrant County

2-14     Chambers of Commerce as a token of esteem from the Texas Senate.
