No. 69 97S0865/2 SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas Game Warden Association was founded in 1-2 1979 to advance the concept of "Conservation for Future 1-3 Generations" by introducing young Texans to the beauty and value of 1-4 land and wildlife; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Since that time, game wardens, volunteers, and 1-6 dedicated sportsmen and women have joined the effort to identify 1-7 children who would most benefit from outdoor activities; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Over 100,000 orphaned or disadvantaged boys and 1-9 girls have benefitted from Wilderness Kids and educational programs 1-10 statewide and at the Parrie Haynes Ranch near Killeen, Texas, which 1-11 is situated on one of the clearest and most beautiful stretches of 1-12 the Lampasas River; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Parrie Haynes and her husband, Allen Haynes, built 1-14 one of the largest and finest ranches in the area through their 1-15 determination and hard work; in her will she left most of her 1-16 beloved ranch in perpetuity to the orphans of Texas; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Through hunting, fishing, camping, and nature study 1-18 programs, children from all walks of life are introduced to the 1-19 joys of outdoor adventure, fun, and responsibility in the wild; 1-20 they are taught the skills necessary to identify plants and 1-21 wildlife and to develop healthy, wholesome values on which to build 1-22 their futures; and 1-23 WHEREAS, The benefit to these disadvantaged youth is 2-1 immeasurable; representing tomorrow's voters, the youngsters gain 2-2 appreciation of our state's wildlife and increased awareness of the 2-3 importance of responsible wildlife management and wise stewardship 2-4 of our outdoor treasures, which are lessons they will carry with 2-5 them into responsible adulthood; and 2-6 WHEREAS, The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the 2-7 Texas Game Warden Association have formed a unique partnership to 2-8 create the Parrie Haynes Youth Camp and Wildlife Conservation Ranch 2-9 with complete year-round staffing; now, therefore, be it 2-10 RESOLVED, That the 75th Legislature of the State of Texas 2-11 hereby commend the dedicated men and women who have given untold 2-12 hours of their time to the children of Texas and express its 2-13 deepest appreciation to them; and, be it further 2-14 RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for this 2-15 exceptional group with best wishes for continued success in all 2-16 their endeavors.
