SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, The abundant natural resources of Texas are the 1-2 foundation of the state's remarkable prosperity, vitality, and 1-3 quality of life, and as such are worthy of the attention and 1-4 consideration of all Texans; and 1-5 WHEREAS, The Lone Star State is known throughout the world 1-6 for the breathtaking beauty and variety of its flora, fauna, and 1-7 landscapes, and the identification of Texas with its natural 1-8 attributes has contributed much to the legendary character of the 1-9 state's reputation; and 1-10 WHEREAS, The stature of Texas as an international economic 1-11 powerhouse derives in large part from the rich variety of 1-12 indigenous resources that have fueled the state's economic 1-13 development, and Texas history has been shaped and defined by the 1-14 evolving relationship between the land and its inhabitants; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Wise stewardship of our precious natural resources 1-16 is essential if we are to secure the future well-being of our 1-17 state's residents, and it is incumbent on every Texan to recognize 1-18 the importance of our rich natural legacy and ensure its continued 1-19 existence for future generations; now, therefore, be it 1-20 RESOLVED, That the 75th Legislature of the State of Texas 1-21 hereby designate the first week of April, 1997, and the first week 1-22 of April, 1998, each as Texas Natural Resources Week and encourage 1-23 its observance throughout the state. _______________________________ _______________________________ President of the Senate Speaker of the House I hereby certify that S.C.R.
