SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

 1-1           WHEREAS, May 29, 1997, is a significant day in the lives of

 1-2     387 graduating seniors of Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown,

 1-3     Texas; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, The class of 1997 is the 78th class to complete the

 1-5     requirements for graduation from Robert E. Lee High School and now

 1-6     joins a proud and distinguished group of alumni; and

 1-7           WHEREAS, Established in 1929 on the banks of Goose Creek,

 1-8     Robert E. Lee High School is the proud home of the Flying Gander,

 1-9     the official mascot; and

1-10           WHEREAS, The graduating Class of 1997 has brought numerous

1-11     high honors and distinctions to itself, Robert E. Lee High School,

1-12     the City of Baytown, and the great State of Texas through its

1-13     outstanding and exemplary performance in academics, the arts, and

1-14     athletics, as well as in numerous vocational and extracurricular

1-15     activities; and

1-16           WHEREAS, These accomplishments would not have been possible

1-17     without the dedicated instruction, support, and guidance of the

1-18     Robert E. Lee High School faculty and administration; and

1-19           WHEREAS, The parents of the 1997 graduates of Robert E. Lee

1-20     High School are to be equally commended for their commitment to

1-21     educational excellence in public schools and for their loving

1-22     efforts to help ensure that their children are academically

1-23     prepared to face the challenges of the 21st century; now,

 2-1     therefore, be it

 2-2           RESOLVED, That the 75th Legislature of the State of Texas

 2-3     hereby congratulate and commend the Robert E. Lee High School Class

 2-4     of 1997 for its many accomplishments and offer sincere best wishes

 2-5     to the graduating seniors for a safe, memorable, and joyous

 2-6     celebration; and, be it further

 2-7           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

 2-8     prepared for the Robert E. Lee High School Class of 1997 to be

 2-9     permanently displayed for the students, parents, and faculty of

2-10     this outstanding public school as an expression of high regard and

2-11     esteem by the Texas Legislature.
