                            SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

 1-1           WHEREAS, The Legislature of the State of Texas is pleased to

 1-2     join the family and friends of Guadalupe Arias Garcia in honoring

 1-3     this beloved matriarch on the grand occasion of her 75th birthday;

 1-4     and

 1-5           WHEREAS, She will be celebrating her 75th birthday during the

 1-6     same year that the Texas Legislature also celebrates its diamond

 1-7     anniversary; and

 1-8           WHEREAS, Born on December 12, 1922, in San Antonio, Texas,

 1-9     Guadalupe is the daughter of Milton M. and Conception R. Arias;

1-10     they were the parents of 11 other children, Ramon, Encarnacion,

1-11     Magdaleno, Milton, Jr., Leonides, Antonia,  Nicolas, Leonard, Mary,

1-12     Eva, and Annie; and

1-13           WHEREAS, Guadalupe Arias married Ernest Julian Garcia, and

1-14     the devoted couple became the parents of five children, Ernestine,

1-15     Juliet, Lupe, Diana, and Ernest Anthony; and

1-16           WHEREAS, Unwavering in her love and devotion, Mrs. Garcia

1-17     instilled the importance of education and sports in her children;

1-18     her family has always been able to count on her for understanding,

1-19     advice, or just lending an ear; and

1-20           WHEREAS, She has made a real home for her family who, when

1-21     coming home, feel the warmth and love as they drive up the

1-22     driveway; and

1-23           WHEREAS, She is proud of her six grandchildren, Victor, Berin

 2-1     David, Alexia Nicole, Jillian, Amanda Rose, and Julia Nicole; she

 2-2     enjoys discussing and debating issues with her grandson Victor and

 2-3     feels blessed in helping to raise her special granddaughter

 2-4     Jillian, who, with Ernestine, shares much love and devotion; and

 2-5           WHEREAS, Only 5'1" tall, Mrs. Garcia is the embodiment of a

 2-6     tower of strength and courage and an anchor of hope and faith;

 2-7     young looking beyond her years, she is full of graciousness and

 2-8     humility, exercising diplomacy and fairness in many family

 2-9     situations; and

2-10           WHEREAS, Guadalupe loves to laugh, enjoys good jokes, and

2-11     plays canasta to win; she keeps up with the daily news and

2-12     important issues of her community and never misses the opportunity

2-13     to vote; now, therefore, be it

2-14           RESOLVED, That the 75th Legislature of the State of Texas

2-15     hereby declare Guadalupe Arias Garcia a treasured citizen of her

2-16     town and state and extend to her best wishes for a most joyous 75th

2-17     birthday; and, be it further

2-18           RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for

2-19     Guadalupe as an expression of the esteem of the Texas Legislature.
