                               SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION

 1-1     proposing a constitutional amendment allowing the Texas growth fund

 1-2     to continue to invest in businesses without requiring those

 1-3     businesses to disclose investments in South Africa or Namibia.

 1-4           BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

 1-5           SECTION 1.  Subsection (r), Section 70, Article XVI, of the

 1-6     Texas Constitution is repealed.

 1-7           SECTION 2.  This proposed constitutional amendment shall be

 1-8     submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 4, 1997.

 1-9     The ballot shall be printed to provide for voting for or against

1-10     the proposition:  "The constitutional amendment allowing the Texas

1-11     growth fund to continue to invest in businesses without requiring

1-12     those businesses to disclose investments in South Africa or

1-13     Namibia."
