 1-2                              SENATE RESOLUTION

 1-3                                  In Memory

 1-4                                     of

 1-5                              Lucious C. Wagner

 1-6           WHEREAS, The State of Texas lost a respected resident with

 1-7     the death of Lucious C. Wagner; and

 1-8           WHEREAS, A native Texan, the distinguished gentleman was

 1-9     born in Timpson, Texas, the son of Calvin and Laura Roberts Wagner;

1-10     and

1-11           WHEREAS, After attending schools in Timpson and Concord,

1-12     Lucious joined the United States Army, where he honorably served

1-13     his country for 22 years; the recipient of the Army Commendation

1-14     Medal, Mr. Wagner saw combat in Korea and Vietnam; and

1-15           WHEREAS, Following his retirement from the service,

1-16     Mr. Wagner moved to Dallas and attended Mountain View College,

1-17     receiving his associate degree in business administration in 1973;

1-18     after receiving his bachelor's degree from Bishop College in 1975,

1-19     he worked for the school until September, 1991; and

1-20           WHEREAS, Imbued with a deep sense of civic pride and a desire

1-21     to help his fellowman, Mr. Wagner was active in numerous community

1-22     affairs; a Democratic Party precinct chair from 1974 until 1997,

1-23     Lucious was a commissioner of DHA for two years; he was a member

 2-1     of the WHISD Board of Trustees and was board president from

 2-2     April, 1987, until May, 1989; and

 2-3           WHEREAS, Living his Christian beliefs every day of his life

 2-4     in thought, word, and deed, Mr. Wagner was an active member of

 2-5     Mount Tabor Baptist Church, where he was on the Senior Usher Board;

 2-6     and

 2-7           WHEREAS, Lucious Wagner left an indelible impression in the

 2-8     hearts and minds of all who knew him, and he will be greatly missed;

 2-9     now, therefore, be it

2-10           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

2-11     75th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the

2-12     members of his family:  his sons, Lieutenant Dwayne K. Wagner,

2-13     Dr. Harold Wagner, Lucious Wagner, Jr., Frederick D. Wagner, and

2-14     Patrick Wagner; his daughter, Kathy D. Houston; and his five

2-15     granddaughters and five grandsons; and, be it further

2-16           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for

2-17     the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy

2-18     from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this

2-19     day, it do so in memory of Lucious D. Wagner.
