 1-2                              SENATE RESOLUTION

 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes great pride

 1-4     in recognizing Fannin County Judge Jimmy Doyle, who is retiring

 1-5     after 10 years of outstanding work as Fannin County's top elected

 1-6     official; and

 1-7           WHEREAS, Jimmy Doyle was elected to his position as Fannin

 1-8     County Judge in 1986; prior to his election to the court, he had

 1-9     a successful career for 17 years as a teacher and school

1-10     administrator in the Honey Grove Independent School District; and

1-11           WHEREAS, During his tenure in county office, Judge Doyle

1-12     worked effectively with the commissioners on the court to solve

1-13     county problems and complete projects; one of their first

1-14     accomplishments was to erect a new office building for the Texas

1-15     Department of Human Services and the Texas Employment Commission,

1-16     without a tax increase; and

1-17           WHEREAS, Another major achievement during Judge Doyle's

1-18     decade in office was the county's purchase of 1,080 acres west of

1-19     Bonham; the purchase had significant impact on the decision by the

1-20     Texas Department of Criminal Justice to build two new correctional

1-21     facilities in the county, the Choice Moore State Transfer Facility

1-22     and the Buster Cole State Jail; and

1-23           WHEREAS, Other projects benefitting Fannin County include

 2-1     the construction of new sections of U.S. Highway 82, the initiation

 2-2     of rural addresses to help Emergency Medical Services, a doubling

 2-3     of the funds paid to volunteer fire departments, and the repavement

 2-4     and redesign of the courthouse parking lot; and

 2-5           WHEREAS, This past year, the county purchased the Fannin

 2-6     County Electric Co-op's old office building as part of a plan to

 2-7     build a county office annex, and work was begun on the renovation

 2-8     of an old county building; and

 2-9           WHEREAS, An exemplary and distinguished gentleman,

2-10     Judge Jimmy Doyle has given generously of his time, energy, and

2-11     expertise to the betterment of Fannin County, and the county's

2-12     citizens are grateful for his decade of leadership and his many

2-13     achievements; and

2-14           WHEREAS, Judge Jimmy Doyle is beloved and respected by his

2-15     colleagues and by the people throughout Fannin County, and his

2-16     presence on the Fannin County Court will be greatly missed; now,

2-17     therefore, be it

2-18           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

2-19     75th Legislature, hereby commend Judge Jimmy Doyle on his hard

2-20     work and extend appreciation to him for his many contributions

2-21     to Fannin County and to the state; and, be it further

2-22           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for

2-23     him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
