No. 50 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-3 WHEREAS, On January 23, 1997, participants in the 1-4 Leadership Lubbock program will journey to the State Capitol, 1-5 and their presence in Austin affords the members of this chamber 1-6 an opportunity to recognize this organization's outstanding work; 1-7 and 1-8 WHEREAS, Since its inception in 1976, Leadership Lubbock 1-9 has trained men and women from every walk of life to effectively 1-10 identify and respond to the needs of their communities; the 1-11 program provides the opportunity to meet with top-ranking business, 1-12 civic, and government leaders to discuss a variety of issues, and 1-13 in doing so participants learn more about the challenges and 1-14 opportunities facing Texas today; and 1-15 WHEREAS, While in Austin, members of the organization will 1-16 observe the Texas Senate in session, tour the historic grounds of 1-17 the Capitol and Governor's Mansion, and confer with members of 1-18 their legislative delegation, and the day's activities promise 1-19 to be as informative as they are enjoyable; and 1-20 WHEREAS, The interest of these citizens in the operation 1-21 of state government, and in particular the legislative process, 1-22 merits special recognition, as this type of commitment and 1-23 dedication forms the very backbone of the democratic process; 2-1 now, therefore, be it 2-2 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-3 75th Legislature, hereby recognize Leadership Lubbock as an 2-4 outstanding civic program and extend a warm welcome to its 2-5 visiting members; and, be it further 2-6 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be 2-7 prepared for Leadership Lubbock as a commemoration of this 2-8 grand occasion and as an expression of high regard by the 2-9 Texas Senate. 2-10 ______________________________________ 2-11 President of the Senate 2-12 I hereby certify that the above 2-13 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-14 on January 23, 1997. 2-15 ______________________________________ 2-16 Secretary of the Senate 2-17 ______________________________________ 2-18 Member, Texas Senate
