1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION
1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride
1-4 in recognizing Betty C. Dunbar of Pampa, Texas, on the joyous
1-5 occasion of her 95th birthday on January 26, 1997; and
1-6 WHEREAS, Born January 26, 1902, in Tortales, New Mexico,
1-7 Betty Dunbar has lived in Pampa since 1927; she was formerly a
1-8 schoolteacher and worked for KPDN radio station, where she had
1-9 her own show in 1936; she also worked for Cabot Corporation, an
1-10 oil and gas corporation based in Boston, and was editor of the
1-11 company's magazine The Cautious Cat; and
1-12 WHEREAS, Betty Dunbar has been privileged to witness events
1-13 most of us only read about in history books; and
1-14 WHEREAS, During her lifetime, she has witnessed two world
1-15 wars, the invention of television, and the landing of astronauts
1-16 on the moon; and
1-17 WHEREAS, Today, she is still active and takes pleasure in
1-18 the companionship of her family and friends; she is a member of
1-19 the First Presbyterian Church in Pampa and the Philanthropic
1-20 Educator Organization, an international women's organization;
1-21 she is also a master bridge player; and
1-22 WHEREAS, A beloved and respected member of her community,
1-23 Betty Dunbar is noted for her courage, her generosity to others,
2-1 and her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; now,
2-2 therefore, be it
2-3 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-4 75th Legislature, hereby join the family and friends of
2-5 Betty C. Dunbar in extending best wishes to her and
2-6 congratulations on the grand occasion of her 95th birthday;
2-7 and, be it further
2-8 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-9 her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
