No. 77 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to 1-4 honor the members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars for their 1-5 gallantry in defending their country at a cost of great personal 1-6 sacrifice; and 1-7 WHEREAS, On May 3, 1997, the members of the Dickinson 1-8 Memorial Post 6378 and its Ladies Auxiliary, together with the 1-9 VFW posts of District 16, will conduct a Loyalty Day parade in 1-10 the City of Dickinson to express their pride in our nation and 1-11 our state; and 1-12 WHEREAS, The colorful parade, which has traditionally 1-13 been one of the finest in the State of Texas, will progress 1-14 through the heart of the city; dignitaries in the parade will 1-15 include locally elected senators and representatives along with 1-16 city and county officials; and 1-17 WHEREAS, The men and women in our armed forces have 1-18 upheld the highest tradition of the United States military by 1-19 their conduct and devotion to duty; and 1-20 WHEREAS, They are sterling examples to each of us of 1-21 the incomparable courage of those who so stalwartly defend 1-22 our country and our cherished freedoms in times of peril; and 1-23 WHEREAS, Their service to our country has been marked 2-1 by true fidelity and allegiance, and we owe them a debt of 2-2 tremendous gratitude; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-4 75th Legislature, hereby express its deepest respect to the 2-5 Veterans of Foreign Wars for protecting and defending the 2-6 United States of America so that we all may continue to live 2-7 in peace at home; and, be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-9 the Dickinson Memorial Post 6378 as a memento of this special 2-10 occasion. 2-11 ______________________________________ 2-12 President of the Senate 2-13 I hereby certify that the above 2-14 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-15 on January 29, 1997. 2-16 ______________________________________ 2-17 Secretary of the Senate 2-18 ______________________________________ 2-19 Member, Texas Senate
