 1-2                              SENATE RESOLUTION

 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes great

 1-4     pleasure in recognizing Johnnie B. Rogers for his many worthwhile

 1-5     contributions to Austin and the State of Texas; and

 1-6           WHEREAS, This remarkable gentleman is always willing to give

 1-7     of his time and talents to any worthy cause; and

 1-8           WHEREAS, Born in Austin on July 6, 1925, he is a graduate of

 1-9     The University of Texas in journalism and law; and

1-10           WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Austin, Mr. Rogers honorably

1-11     served in the United States Naval Air Force from 1944 through 1946;

1-12     and

1-13           WHEREAS, A man who greatly enjoys politics, Johnnie B. Rogers

1-14     was elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 1948 and served

1-15     two terms; he was elected to the Texas Senate from District 14 and

1-16     served from 1951 through 1955; and

1-17           WHEREAS, Admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1955,

1-18     Mr. Rogers has been in legal practice in Austin since that time; he

1-19     has been general counsel for many trade associations in the state;

1-20     and

1-21           WHEREAS, Due to his expertise and experience, he was highly

1-22     sought after as a great lecturer at The University of Texas at Austin

1-23     School of Law on Legislative Process and Procedure; and

 2-1           WHEREAS, Some of the groups he represents are the Texas LP Gas

 2-2     Association, Holiday Inns, Incorporated, and the Texas Car and Truck

 2-3     Leasing Association; and

 2-4           WHEREAS, He has been a devoted golfer and well known for

 2-5     winning on the first tee box; and

 2-6           WHEREAS, No "Snickers" candy bar is safe, when Johnnie B. is

 2-7     nearby; and

 2-8           WHEREAS, The citizens of Austin, Travis County, and the

 2-9     State of Texas have greatly benefitted from the achievements

2-10     of Johnnie B. Rogers, and he is certainly worthy of legislative

2-11     recognition; now, therefore, be it

2-12           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

2-13     75th Legislature, hereby commend and applaud the exceptional

2-14     accomplishments of Johnnie B. Rogers; and, be it further

2-15           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him

2-16     as an expression of the high regard of the Texas Senate.
