No. 87 1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-3 WHEREAS, The Lake Highlands High School Wildcats are to be 1-4 commended for their exceptional season and for providing Wildcat 1-5 fans with many great memories; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Lake Highlands finished the regular season with 1-7 just one loss and followed that superior effort with four 1-8 impressive wins in the playoffs, including a tough 21-14 victory 1-9 over Tyler John Tyler High School; the team's 13-2 season finally 1-10 came to an end after a heartbreaking 24-21 overtime loss to 1-11 Abilene Cooper High School in the state Class 5A semifinals; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Dedication to excellence both individually and as 1-13 a team was a hallmark of the Wildcats, whose team members include 1-14 Anthony Harden, Stacey Hall, Peter Dawson, Davaren Hightower, 1-15 Sean Stilley, Justin Smith, Rashun Taylor, Drew Harden, 1-16 Terrence Jefferson, Granger Smith, Caleb Ferguson, Sam Needum, 1-17 Collins Taylor, Coleman Duckworth, Jason Weiser, Joktan Cook, 1-18 Darron Burks, Jason Eldridge, Travis McElroy, Brian Marr, 1-19 Brad Matthiesen, Kevin Graham, Michael Owens, Eric Horton, 1-20 James Brewer, Breck Woolsey, David Hirsh, Mark Massey, Clyde Davis, 1-21 Warren Threadgill, Fred Barnett, Josh Harris, Thomas Martin, 1-22 Ken Johnson, Jeremy Boyce, Charles Joanah, Brandon Daily, Ty Jones, 1-23 Andrew Prine, Kipp Collins, Jamin Stinson, Aaron Ball, Mario Sands, 2-1 John Patton, Ben Hunt, Ben Northington, Patrick Freshwater, 2-2 Trey Hart, Garrett McGuire, David Heaton, Jonathan Hawkins, 2-3 Patrick Hendrix, Sergio Castillejos, Danny Guzman, Ian Wallace, 2-4 Chris Boykin, Preston Young, Deonita Hubbard, Aaron Finnin, 2-5 Darcel Martin, Roderick McNeary, J. Aughinbaugh, David McGehee, 2-6 Reid Wakefield, Josh Reynolds, John Ashworth, Keith Carter, 2-7 Seth Hanson, John Preskitt, Nathan McCollum, Kelan Dorsey, 2-8 Andrew McGrath, Brent Worthy, Marcus Elder, Justin Penny, 2-9 Jerome Carrothers, Keith Carey, Greg Schnos, Brandon Ware, 2-10 William Guillory, Gabe Geldert, and John Palmer; and 2-11 WHEREAS, Athletic director and head coach Jerry Gayden's 2-12 leadership and inspiration have helped to create a positive football 2-13 environment for the young men of Lake Highlands High School, with 2-14 emphasis placed on academic achievement, good sportsmanship, and 2-15 team unity, and he was ably supported in this pursuit by assistant 2-16 coaches Harry Everett, Ralph Hinds, Leonard Carey, Don Woods, 2-17 Paul Maturi, John Bandy, Ed Barry, and Dexter Adams; managers 2-18 Saed Abusaad and Adam Harris, head athletic trainer Todd Holmes, 2-19 and trainers Jamie Croschere, Emily Cook, Courtney Spearman, and 2-20 Jason Boehme made valuable contributions as well, and the team's 2-21 success is deservedly shared by the entire athletic staff; and 2-22 WHEREAS, This exemplary group of young athletes, as well as 2-23 their coaches and staff, is a tremendous source of pride for the 2-24 students and faculty of Lake Highlands High School and their many 2-25 supporters in the community, and it is a privilege to honor them 3-1 for their outstanding season; now, therefore, be it 3-2 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 3-3 75th Legislature, hereby congratulate the Lake Highlands High School 3-4 Wildcats on reaching the state Class 5A semifinals and extend to its 3-5 members and coaches sincere best wishes for continued success and 3-6 happiness in the years to come; and, be it further 3-7 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared 3-8 for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas Senate. 3-9 ______________________________________ 3-10 President of the Senate 3-11 I hereby certify that the above 3-12 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 3-13 on January 30, 1997. 3-14 ______________________________________ 3-15 Secretary of the Senate 3-16 ______________________________________ 3-17 Member, Texas Senate
