 1-2                              SENATE RESOLUTION

 1-3           WHEREAS, The most important asset in Texas today is

 1-4     our youth, who are the leaders and statesmen of tomorrow; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, It is vitally important to emphasize the

 1-6     qualities which we want future generations of Texans to emulate

 1-7     and value; among the foremost of these qualities are patriotism

 1-8     and dignity; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, The brave men and women who fought in wars to

1-10     preserve our country's freedoms have left a lasting standard

1-11     for others to follow; and

1-12           WHEREAS, It is of paramount significance that we instill

1-13     in our young people an appreciation of the courage and valor

1-14     demonstrated by those who have given their lives to protect our

1-15     country; and

1-16           WHEREAS, Providing an educational opportunity for our

1-17     children to learn about the cost of securing the blessings of

1-18     democracy for future generations would be a commendable goal

1-19     for our state's schools to pursue; now, therefore, be it

1-20           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

1-21     75th Legislature, hereby encourage schools throughout our

1-22     great state to teach the importance of patriotism to today's

1-23     schoolchildren; and, be it further

 2-1           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared

 2-2     as an expression of the high regard of the Texas Senate.
