 1-2                              SENATE RESOLUTION

 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes great

 1-4     pleasure in welcoming the students from Buenos Aires, Argentina,

 1-5     who are participating in the Fundacion Universitaria del Rio de

 1-6     la Plata program at the Lyndon Baines Johnson School of Public

 1-7     Affairs; and

 1-8           WHEREAS, A private, nonprofit institution created in 1970 by

 1-9     a group of young university graduates, the Fundacion Universitaria

1-10     del Rio de la Plata is directed toward preparing graduate students

1-11     of great promise for national leadership and to widen their view

1-12     of national and international affairs; and

1-13           WHEREAS, The activities of FURP have been generously supported

1-14     by private corporations and institutions, including American firms

1-15     who have interests in Argentina; and

1-16           WHEREAS, Since its establishment, FURP has organized seminars

1-17     in the United States in which hundreds of young university students

1-18     and graduates from all over Argentina have had the opportunity to

1-19     profit from the knowledge and insights they gain; and

1-20           WHEREAS, The 16 outstanding students who are participating

1-21     in the program at the Lyndon Baines Johnson School of Public Affairs

1-22     have been selected on the basis of their potential as young leaders

1-23     to be members of the Fundacion Universitaria del Rio de la Plata,

 2-1     thus allowing them to direct their abilities toward better community

 2-2     service; and

 2-3           WHEREAS, It is a distinct honor for the Texas Senate

 2-4     to recognize these young men and women who will become

 2-5     the future leaders of their country:  group leader

 2-6     Pablo Valles, Enrique Ignacio Golobisy, Hugo Mariano Danesi,

 2-7     Pablo Andres Mera, Fernando Jose Alvarez, Gustavo Alfredo Iarussi,

 2-8     Eduardo Sixto Martinez Folquer, Maria Florencia Etcheverry,

 2-9     Carolina Perez Colman, Natalia Rodriguez Beluardi,

2-10     Josefina Montoreano, Lisandro Virdo, Facundo Patricio Nejamkis,

2-11     Martin Alejandro Gramont Manzo, Ernesto Jose Schafran Adissi,

2-12     and Jose Luis Pivetta; now, therefore, be it

2-13           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

2-14     75th Legislature, hereby commend these dedicated individuals

2-15     who are broadening their education in order to better understand

2-16     the problems of their society and to prepare themselves for their

2-17     roles as national leaders; and, be it further

2-18           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be presented to them

2-19     as an expression of the high regard of the Texas Senate.
