1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION
1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased
1-4 to congratulate C. O. Bradford, Chief of Police of the Houston
1-5 Police Department, on his recent appointment and his exceptional
1-6 contributions to his community and his city; and
1-7 WHEREAS, Beginning his career with the Houston Police
1-8 Department in 1979, Clarence O'Neal "Brad" Bradford was promoted
1-9 to Assistant Chief of Police in June, 1991, and assigned the
1-10 management of the Technical Services Command; and
1-11 WHEREAS, Selected to take charge of the Professional
1-12 Development Command in November, 1992, the talented officer
1-13 was picked to supervise the department's largest patrol command,
1-14 the West Patrol Command, in January, 1996; and
1-15 WHEREAS, This command oversaw the activities in the
1-16 north, northwest, and west quadrants of the City of Houston;
1-17 on November 7, 1996, Brad Bradford was officially nominated as
1-18 Chief of Police; and
1-19 WHEREAS, A cum laude graduate of Grambling State University
1-20 with a criminal justice degree, Chief Bradford earned a public
1-21 administration degree from Texas Southern University, where he
1-22 graduated magna cum laude; he is also a graduate of the Federal
1-23 Bureau of Investigation Academy National Executive Institute; and
2-1 WHEREAS, This outstanding gentleman has completed his doctor
2-2 of jurisprudence degree at the University of Houston Law Center
2-3 and is a trained mediator and a licensed attorney; and
2-4 WHEREAS, Chief Bradford has practiced law in the areas of
2-5 deceptive trade practices and employment law; his notable career
2-6 has brought him many richly deserved honors, including several
2-7 Police Chief Commendations, Officer of the Year for Professionalism,
2-8 and the Mayor's Outstanding Leadership Award; now, therefore, be it
2-9 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-10 75th Legislature, hereby commend Police Chief C. O. Bradford
2-11 for his superb service and congratulate him on his recent
2-12 appointment; and, be it further
2-13 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-14 Chief Bradford as an expression of the highest regard of the
2-15 Texas Senate.
