No. 142 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-3 In Memory 1-4 of 1-5 Linda Defoore Roberts 1-6 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the 1-7 citizens of Waxahachie in mourning the untimely loss of 1-8 Linda Defoore Roberts, who died February 1, 1997, at the 1-9 age of 52; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Born January 6, 1945, in Waxahachie, Linda Defoore 1-11 was the daughter of Estelle Butler and Finis Marshall Defoore; 1-12 she married Billy Roberts, and the couple was blessed with two 1-13 children; and 1-14 WHEREAS, An exemplary lady, Linda Roberts was dedicated to 1-15 her work as a homemaker and was respected in the community for 1-16 her many accomplishments; and 1-17 WHEREAS, A woman of integrity, strength, and generosity, 1-18 she gave unselfishly of her time to others, and her wisdom, 1-19 warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who 1-20 knew her; and 1-21 WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Mrs. Roberts was a member 1-22 of the Ferris Heights Baptist Church and was a member of the 1-23 Eastern Star; and 2-1 WHEREAS, Linda Roberts was a devoted wife, mother, 2-2 and grandmother, and she leaves behind memories that will 2-3 be treasured forever by her family and many friends; now, 2-4 therefore, be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-6 75th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the 2-7 bereaved family of Linda Roberts: her husband, Billy Roberts; 2-8 her son and daughter-in-law, Billy Kirk and Cheryl Roberts; 2-9 her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Leanne and Dwayne Pope; her 2-10 brother, Jerry Don Defoore; her sister, Yvonne Whitt; her mother, 2-11 Estelle Defoore; and her four grandchildren; and, be it further 2-12 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-13 the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy 2-14 from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this 2-15 day, it do so in memory of Linda Defoore Roberts. 2-16 ______________________________________ 2-17 President of the Senate 2-18 I hereby certify that the above 2-19 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-20 on February 10, 1997, by a rising vote. 2-21 ______________________________________ 2-22 Secretary of the Senate 2-23 ______________________________________ 2-24 Member, Texas Senate
