 1-3                                     of

 1-4                             Esperanza G. Tamez

 1-5           WHEREAS, The citizens of Corpus Christi mourned the passing

 1-6     of one of the city's esteemed residents, Esperanza G. Tamez, who

 1-7     died February 2, 1997, at the age of 84; and

 1-8           WHEREAS, A well-known member of the city's business community,

 1-9     Mrs. Tamez was coproprietor with her husband of Raymond The Cleaners

1-10     for 20 years; and

1-11           WHEREAS, A devoted wife and mother, Esperanza provided a

1-12     loving home for her family, and she found time to participate in

1-13     all her children's school activities; and

1-14           WHEREAS, She was a warm and generous individual, a wonderful

1-15     grandmother to her seven grandchildren, and a caring friend to

1-16     those who shared her life; and

1-17           WHEREAS, Esperanza Tamez leaves a legacy of compassion and

1-18     commitment that will continue to live in the hearts and minds of

1-19     all who loved her; now, therefore, be it

1-20           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

1-21     75th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the family

1-22     of Esperanza G. Tamez:  her son, Rodolfo G. Tamez; her daughter,

1-23     Mary Helen Rodriguez; her niece, Carrie Gonzalez De La Cruz; and

 2-1     her seven grandchildren; and, be it further

 2-2           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her

 2-3     family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate,

 2-4     and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of

 2-5     Esperanza G. Tamez.
