No. 157 1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-3 In Memory 1-4 of 1-5 Stanley Louis Mikula 1-6 WHEREAS, The untimely death of Stanley Louis Mikula on 1-7 June 30, 1996, at the age of 55 was deeply mourned by the 1-8 residents of Calhoun County; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Well known and highly respected for his valuable 1-10 contributions to the county throughout his adult life, Mr. Mikula 1-11 was an exemplary public servant who worked diligently to provide 1-12 the citizens of Calhoun County with modern, up-to-date improvements; 1-13 and 1-14 WHEREAS, A native of Texas, Mr. Mikula was the son of 1-15 Gladys Meyer Mikula and Joseph John Mikula and had lived in 1-16 Calhoun County all his life; born on September 2, 1940, 1-17 Stanley was a graduate of Sam Houston State University; and 1-18 WHEREAS, After serving as a board member of the Calhoun 1-19 County Navigation District for two years, he became chairman of 1-20 the board and, for the next nine years, was closely involved in 1-21 the development of the county's essential commercial waterways; 1-22 and 1-23 WHEREAS, Elected as a county commissioner to represent 2-1 Precinct 2 in 1979, Mr. Mikula earned the respect and admiration 2-2 of his constituents through his devotion to his duties and 2-3 his tireless efforts to promote road and drainage improvements, 2-4 economic development, and emergency services; and 2-5 WHEREAS, Mr. Mikula freely offered his time and energies 2-6 to several community organizations; his wise counsel was valued 2-7 by the Rotary Club, the Texas Association of Counties, the Foreign 2-8 Trade Zone, and the Port Lavaca Parks and Recreation Board; and 2-9 WHEREAS, A gentleman who gave generously of his talents 2-10 to help his community, Stanley Mikula will be remembered for 2-11 his compassion and professional integrity; his accomplishments 2-12 will continue to provide the citizens of Calhoun County with 2-13 a better quality of life in the years to come; now, therefore, 2-14 be it 2-15 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-16 75th Legislature, hereby extend deepest condolences to 2-17 the family of Stanley Louis Mikula: his beloved wife, 2-18 Janice Lynn Marquette Mikula; his sons, Stanley Louis Mikula II 2-19 and Phillip John Mikula; his mother, Gladys Meyer Mikula; and 2-20 his sisters, Marilyn Mikula, Carla Jurek, and Clarice Bissett; 2-21 and, be it further 2-22 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his 2-23 family as an expression of profound regret from the Texas Senate, 2-24 and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory 2-25 of Stanley Louis Mikula. 3-1 ______________________________________ 3-2 President of the Senate 3-3 I hereby certify that the above 3-4 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 3-5 on February 13, 1997, by a rising vote. 3-6 ______________________________________ 3-7 Secretary of the Senate 3-8 ______________________________________ 3-9 Member, Texas Senate
