 1-2                              SENATE RESOLUTION

 1-3           WHEREAS, Robert W. Mills will be honored at the Blue and

 1-4     Gold Banquet on February 15, 1997, for his notable contributions

 1-5     to Scouting, and the Texas Senate is pleased to extend

 1-6     congratulations to him for his special recognition; and

 1-7           WHEREAS, Mr. Mills has dedicated his time and abilities

 1-8     to the success of several projects involving the Wheeler Avenue

 1-9     Baptist Church Cub Scout Pack 3242 and is a former Scoutmaster

1-10     of the Boy Scouts of America; and

1-11           WHEREAS, Employed by the United Parcel Service since

1-12     1973, he has been promoted from being a part-time clerk during

1-13     his college years to his present position as Business Development

1-14     Manager; and

1-15           WHEREAS, Demonstrating his interest in improving the lives

1-16     of young people, Mr. Mills has been actively involved in various

1-17     community activities throughout his career and is presently

1-18     Fifth District Director of Frontiers International and first

1-19     vice-president of North Houston Frontiers; he is a mentor for

1-20     the Fifth Ward Enrichment Program and the Houston Area DeKalb

1-21     Association that help at-risk teenagers; and

1-22           WHEREAS, A former educator and coach for the Aldine

1-23     Independent School District, Robert Mills is a member of the

 2-1     Texas High School Coaches Association and the Houston Urban

 2-2     League; he also served as a member of the Multicultural Education

 2-3     Task Force in the Spring Independent School District; and

 2-4           WHEREAS, A graduate of DeKalb High School and Texas Southern

 2-5     University with a bachelor of science degree in health and physical

 2-6     education, Robert Mills has continued his education through various

 2-7     training programs; and

 2-8           WHEREAS, A devoted family man, Mr. Mills has been supported

 2-9     by the love and companionship of his wife, Betty, and their sons,

2-10     Cedric Maurice and Robert "Eric"; now, therefore, be it

2-11           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

2-12     75th Legislature, hereby express its appreciation to

2-13     Robert W. Mills for his exemplary work with Cub Scout Pack 3242

2-14     and the youth of his community; and, be it further

2-15           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for

2-16     him as a token of the admiration of the Texas Senate with best

2-17     wishes for continued success in the future.
