No. 185 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in 1-4 recognizing Rebekah Robinson, a member of the 1997 Texas All-State 1-5 Academic Team; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Rebekah Robinson is one of six El Paso Community 1-7 College students who are competing in the national USA Today/PTK 1-8 Academic All-American competition; the students are being honored 1-9 February 20, 1997, in Austin as part of the Texas All-State Academic 1-10 Team; and 1-11 WHEREAS, These El Paso Community College students are 1-12 academically gifted students and are members of the Phi Theta 1-13 Kappa Texas Chapter for high academic achievers; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Primarily interested in music, Rebekah plays 1-15 the piano and the harp; she has been studying piano with an 1-16 accomplished pianist who also teaches music at El Paso Community 1-17 College; an enterprising young woman, Rebekah taught herself how 1-18 to play the Celtic harp, and she has received lessons from master 1-19 instructors in California; and 1-20 WHEREAS, With a desire to share her talent, Rebekah 1-21 conducts recitals and workshops, teaches students, and performs 1-22 with orchestras; now, therefore, be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-1 75th Legislature, hereby congratulate Rebekah Robinson on her 2-2 inclusion as a member of the Texas All-State Academic Team; and, 2-3 be it further 2-4 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-5 Rebekah Robinson as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-6 ______________________________________ 2-7 President of the Senate 2-8 I hereby certify that the above 2-9 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-10 on February 17, 1997. 2-11 ______________________________________ 2-12 Secretary of the Senate 2-13 ______________________________________ 2-14 Member, Texas Senate
