 1-2                              SENATE RESOLUTION

 1-3           WHEREAS, Motorola, Incorporated, will miss the dedicated

 1-4     service and expertise of Walter Kean, who is retiring after having

 1-5     served as a security guard for the company for over 13 years; and

 1-6           WHEREAS, A dedicated employee, Mr. Kean has never missed a

 1-7     day of work, and he has always been punctual; and

 1-8           WHEREAS, Born on February 27, 1935, in Missouri, he is the

 1-9     second son of Virginia and Gilbert Kean; and

1-10           WHEREAS, A lifelong patriot, he enlisted in the United States

1-11     Air Force in July, 1955, to serve a four-year tour of duty; and

1-12           WHEREAS, Walter Kean married Evelyn Mathena on May 13, 1961,

1-13     and the couple made a warm and secure home for their son; and

1-14           WHEREAS, Walter Kean became a transplanted Texan when his

1-15     employer, Braniff, transferred him to Austin in January of 1980;

1-16     and

1-17           WHEREAS, After Braniff folded, Mr. Kean worked for the

1-18     Travis County Sheriff's Office for one year, and on August 15, 1983,

1-19     he accepted a position with Motorola working for the Security

1-20     Department; and

1-21           WHEREAS, Mr. Kean has been commended for his attention to

1-22     details, his leadership skills, and his positive attitude; and

1-23           WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Kean look forward to his retirement and

 2-1     plan to travel in their newly purchased trailer and their 1997 Dodge

 2-2     truck; and

 2-3           WHEREAS, A man of unquestioned ability and integrity,

 2-4     this respected gentleman set a high standard of professionalism,

 2-5     inspiring others by his loyalty, dependability, and exemplary

 2-6     conduct; his presence will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it

 2-7           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

 2-8     75th Legislature, hereby commend the career of service of

 2-9     Walter Kean and congratulate him on his well-deserved retirement;

2-10     and, be it further

2-11           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be

2-12     prepared for Mr. Kean as an expression of the highest regard of

2-13     the Texas Senate.
