 1-2                              SENATE RESOLUTION

 1-3           WHEREAS, The Texas Senate takes pride in recognizing

 1-4     the members of the Hungarian Parliament, Mr. Miklos Rusznak,

 1-5     Dr. Zsolt Semjen, and Ms. Terezia Szilagyi-Csaszar, on the

 1-6     occasion of their visit to the Texas State Capitol on

 1-7     February 24, 1997; and

 1-8           WHEREAS, These members of the Hungarian Parliament are

 1-9     visiting our country for two weeks under the auspices of the

1-10     United States Information Agency's International Visitor Program;

1-11     and

1-12           WHEREAS, Mr. Miklos Rusznak is an agricultural expert and

1-13     a member of the Hungarian Parliament's Agricultural Committee; he

1-14     is a member of the Agricultural Grassroots Organization and has

1-15     published an article on the theory of self-government; and

1-16           WHEREAS, Dr. Zsolt Semjen is number two in the Party's

1-17     Parliamentary Group and a member of the Social and Health

1-18     Committee; he holds a doctorate in theology, is a member of

1-19     the Hungarian Society of Sociology, and has written several

1-20     articles on church affairs; and

1-21           WHEREAS, Ms. Terezia Szilagyi-Csaszar is a member of

1-22     Parliament and a notary; she is president of the Hungarian Woman's

1-23     Organization and a board member of the European Women's Union; and

 2-1           WHEREAS, The citizens of Texas are honored to have these

 2-2     distinguished visitors as guests in the Lone Star State, and it

 2-3     is sincerely hoped their visit here is an informative and an

 2-4     enjoyable one; now, therefore, be it

 2-5           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

 2-6     75th Legislature, hereby extend hospitality and a warm welcome

 2-7     to Mr. Rusznak, Ms. Szilagyi-Csaszar, and Dr. Semjen and express

 2-8     appreciation to each of them for participating in the International

 2-9     Visitor Program; and, be it further

2-10           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for them

2-11     as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
