 1-2                              SENATE RESOLUTION

 1-3           WHEREAS, The Texas Senate takes great pride in honoring all

 1-4     those who embody the finest Texas traits of loyalty, dedication,

 1-5     perseverance against all odds, determination, discretion, and

 1-6     longevity; and

 1-7           WHEREAS, William Clay Robison was born on this date in 1947

 1-8     in San Antonio, Texas, thus meeting the test of longevity; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, Clay Robison has spent the past quarter-century

1-10     as a member of the Fourth Estate, working his first 10 years at

1-11     the now-defunct San Antonio Light, thus meeting the test of

1-12     dedication; and

1-13           WHEREAS, Clay Robison has been bureau chief of the Houston

1-14     Chronicle for the past 15 years, making him the longest-serving

1-15     Austin bureau chief of any Texas media, thus meeting the test of

1-16     loyalty; and

1-17           WHEREAS, In recent years Clay Robison has abandoned running

1-18     in the Capitol 10,000, dashing, instead, after his six-year-old

1-19     daughter, Taylor, and his two-year-old son, Adrian, thus meeting

1-20     the test of determination; and

1-21           WHEREAS, Clay Robison continues his daily task of detailing

1-22     the minutiae of state government, thus meeting the test of

1-23     perseverance against all odds; and

 2-1           WHEREAS, Some journalists have channeled their insider

 2-2     knowledge into tell-all bestsellers like Primary Colors, but

 2-3     Clay Robison has, instead, coauthored three riveting textbooks

 2-4     on state government, thus meeting the test of discretion; now,

 2-5     therefore, be it

 2-6           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

 2-7     75th Legislature, hereby commend and applaud the career of

 2-8     Clay Robison and honor him on the auspicious occasion of his

 2-9     50th birthday; and, be it further

2-10           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for

2-11     Clay Robison as a memento of this special day.
