 1-2                              SENATE RESOLUTION

 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in

 1-4     recognizing Alfonzo Lopez, who recently received the Dow Aggies

 1-5     Scholarship in Engineering at Texas A&M University; and

 1-6           WHEREAS, Alfonzo Lopez is from Eagle Pass, Texas, and is a

 1-7     senior electrical engineering major in the Dwight Look College

 1-8     of Engineering at Texas A&M University, one of the top engineering

 1-9     colleges in the nation; and

1-10           WHEREAS, The college has 10 departments and over 400 faculty

1-11     members and is one of the largest producers of bachelor of science

1-12     degrees in engineering nationwide; its graduate program placed 17th

1-13     overall in the 1995 U.S. News and World Report's annual survey; and

1-14           WHEREAS, Alfonzo Lopez is a highly motivated young man whose

1-15     intellectual vigor and wealth of knowledge are assets worthy of

1-16     commendation; Alfonzo earned one of two Dow scholarships which were

1-17     established in 1991 and are rotated annually among departments of

1-18     electrical engineering, civil engineering, and computer science; and

1-19           WHEREAS, Alfonzo is an exceptionally talented and industrious

1-20     student whose dedication to his work and scholastic achievements

1-21     bring honor to his family, community, and Texas A&M University; now,

1-22     therefore, be it

1-23           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

 2-1     75th Legislature, hereby commend Alfonzo Lopez on his success in

 2-2     the Dwight Look College of Engineering and extend congratulations

 2-3     to him on earning the Dow Aggies Scholarship; and, be it further

 2-4           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him

 2-5     as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
