 1-5                             Faustino D. Rivera

 1-6           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens

 1-7     of Corpus Christi in mourning the loss of Faustino D. Rivera, who

 1-8     died January 17, 1997, at the age of 84; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, Born on August 31, 1912, in Bloomington, he was a

1-10     native Texan; and

1-11           WHEREAS, Mr. Rivera worked at the Sinclair Refinery and later

1-12     owned and operated Rivera's Conoco and Shell service stations; he

1-13     retired in 1975; and

1-14           WHEREAS, A man of integrity and generosity, he gave

1-15     unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom, warm sense of

1-16     humor, and valued counsel will be remembered with gratitude by all

1-17     whose lives he touched; and

1-18           WHEREAS, A devoted husband, grandfather, and great-grandfather,

1-19     Faustino Rivera leaves memories which will be forever treasured by

1-20     his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it

1-21           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

1-22     75th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved

1-23     family of Faustino D. Rivera:  his wife, Benita Gonzalez Rivera; his

 2-1     daughters, Delia Rivera and Estella Taylor; his sons, Gilbert Rivera

 2-2     and Joe G. Rivera; his sister, Sara Cavazos; his brothers,

 2-3     Felix D. Rivera, Crisoforo D. Rivera, and Robert D. Cavazos; and

 2-4     his 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and, be it further

 2-5           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the

 2-6     members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the

 2-7     Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so

 2-8     in memory of Faustino D. Rivera.
