No. 286 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride 1-4 in recognizing the National Association of Purchasing 1-5 Management-Houston, Incorporated, as it holds its general 1-6 meeting on March 11, 1997, in Houston, Texas; and 1-7 WHEREAS, A national and international leader in purchasing 1-8 and materials management research and education, the National 1-9 Association of Purchasing Management is a professional association 1-10 of buyers, purchasing agents, contract administrators, purchasing 1-11 managers, and materials management individuals; and 1-12 WHEREAS, With a membership of about 900 members, the Houston 1-13 Association has 400 more members in their Bay Area affiliate; the 1-14 association seeks to further the education and skilled knowledge 1-15 of its members; the group supports educational scholarships for 1-16 students studying purchasing and materials management curricula; 1-17 and 1-18 WHEREAS, Renowned throughout the area for its expertise, the 1-19 National Association of Purchasing Management-Houston publishes a 1-20 monthly local business survey to inform employers about the state 1-21 of the Houston metropolitan economy; and 1-22 WHEREAS, This information is incorporated into the National 1-23 Report utilized by Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan to 2-1 interpret parts of the national economy; and 2-2 WHEREAS, It is fitting that the National Association of 2-3 Purchasing Management-Houston be honored in March, 1997, for its 2-4 longevity and its contributions to the Houston economy; now, 2-5 therefore, be it 2-6 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-7 75th Legislature, hereby congratulate the National Association 2-8 of Purchasing Management-Houston and designate the month of 2-9 March, 1997, as Purchasing Month in Houston; and, be it further 2-10 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the 2-11 National Association of Purchasing Management-Houston, Incorporated, 2-12 as an expression of the high regard and esteem of the Texas Senate. 2-13 ______________________________________ 2-14 President of the Senate 2-15 I hereby certify that the above 2-16 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-17 on March 5, 1997. 2-18 ______________________________________ 2-19 Secretary of the Senate 2-20 ______________________________________ 2-21 Member, Texas Senate
