 1-2                              SENATE RESOLUTION

 1-3           WHEREAS, It is a distinct honor for the Texas Senate to

 1-4     recognize Dr. Tom Cody Graves, who was recently awarded the Boy

 1-5     Scouts of America's prestigious Silver Beaver Award at the annual

 1-6     Comanche Trail Council Banquet in Brownwood; and

 1-7           WHEREAS, Awards such as the Silver Beaver ensure that future

 1-8     generations of young Americans will always have the opportunity to

 1-9     be involved in Scouting by guaranteeing the financial permanence of

1-10     the Boy Scouts of America's programs in local councils; and

1-11           WHEREAS, Dr. Graves joined Scouting as a Cub Scout in

1-12     December, 1949, at the age of eight; he joined Boy Scout Troop 77

1-13     in Goldthwaite in November, 1952; and

1-14           WHEREAS, This notable gentleman earned the Eagle Scout Award

1-15     with Bronze, Silver, and Gold Palms as a Boy Scout; and

1-16           WHEREAS, After attending three National Boy Scout Jamborees,

1-17     Tom Graves went to the Jubilee World Jamboree in England in 1957;

1-18     and

1-19           WHEREAS, Elected to the Order of the Arrow in 1954, he

1-20     presently serves as a member of the Council Executive Board and as

1-21     Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 77 in Goldthwaite; and

1-22           WHEREAS, Currently president of the Goldthwaite School Board

1-23     of Trustees, Dr. Graves is chairman of the board of Mills County

 2-1     State Bank and has worked with countless volunteer organizations;

 2-2     now, therefore, be it

 2-3           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

 2-4     75th Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Tom Cody Graves on his recent

 2-5     honor; and, be it further

 2-6           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him

 2-7     as an expression of the high regard of the Texas Senate.
