 1-2                              SENATE RESOLUTION
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to join
 1-4     the family and friends of Bonna Belle Porter in honoring this
 1-5     beloved lady on the grand occasion of her 102nd birthday; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, Born on March 22, 1895, in Italy, Texas, Bonna Belle
 1-7     married Albert Porter, and the couple owned Porter Drugstore in
 1-8     Albany for over 30 years; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Bonna Belle became the proud mother of twins when
1-10     she and her husband adopted Richard and Mary at four years of
1-11     age; Richard now lives in Idaho and Mary is a missionary based
1-12     in Alaska; and
1-13           WHEREAS, A devout Christian who daily professes a strong
1-14     faith in God, Mrs. Porter was the church pianist and organist
1-15     for the First Christian Church of Albany for 36 years; and
1-16           WHEREAS, Still a vital member of her community, Bonna Belle
1-17     was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution
1-18     and a charter member of the Albany Study Club organized in 1931;
1-19     and
1-20           WHEREAS, This remarkable woman is truly deserving of the
1-21     long and happy life with which she has been blessed; now,
1-22     therefore, be it
1-23           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-1     75th Legislature, hereby declare Bonna Belle Porter a treasured
 2-2     citizen of her town and state and extend to her best wishes for
 2-3     a most joyous 102nd birthday; and, be it further
 2-4           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 2-5     Bonna Belle as an expression of the esteem of the Texas Senate.
