No. 299 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-3 WHEREAS, Recognizing the academic accomplishments of our 1-4 state's young people is a special privilege for the Texas Senate, 1-5 and Daphne Mulkey of Temple, Texas, is truly deserving of 1-6 legislative commendation for being named to the Phi Theta Kappa 1-7 Texas All-State Academic Team; and 1-8 WHEREAS, The outstanding young woman is a native Texan and 1-9 the daughter of Carolyn A. and Roy W. Mulkey, who are the proud 1-10 parents of three daughters; from her family, Daphne developed her 1-11 interest in art; during her high school years, she began improving 1-12 her artistic abilities and her writing skills; and 1-13 WHEREAS, A gregarious individual who loves helping others, 1-14 Daphne has given freely of her time to the Peer Assistance and 1-15 Leadership Program and other service projects; and 1-16 WHEREAS, In addition to working full time and being a 1-17 full-time student, Daphne serves as chapter president of Phi 1-18 Theta Kappa; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Presently a student at Temple College, Daphne will 1-20 graduate in the summer of 1997; she plans to continue her education 1-21 pursuing a degree in English with a minor in art and a certificate 1-22 to teach secondary education; and 1-23 WHEREAS, Her academic performance, leadership qualities, 2-1 and citizenship have earned her the admiration of her fellow 2-2 students; Daphne is a model for students of all ages; and 2-3 WHEREAS, An outstanding scholastic leader, Daphne is a 2-4 highly motivated young woman whose intellectual vigor and exemplary 2-5 achievements are assets worthy of recognition; now, therefore, be it 2-6 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-7 75th Legislature, hereby congratulate Daphne Mulkey for being 2-8 selected to the Phi Theta Kappa Texas All-State Academic Team; 2-9 and, be it further 2-10 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-11 the distinguished student as an expression of the high regard 2-12 of the Texas Senate. 2-13 ______________________________________ 2-14 President of the Senate 2-15 I hereby certify that the above 2-16 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-17 on March 10, 1997. 2-18 ______________________________________ 2-19 Secretary of the Senate 2-20 ______________________________________ 2-21 Member, Texas Senate
