No. 305 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-3 WHEREAS, On March 20, 1997, Camp Fire Boys and Girls 1-4 will inaugurate a national Absolutely Incredible Kid Day campaign 1-5 to make a lasting and positive impact on our nation's youth; and 1-6 WHEREAS, The unique program focuses on asking every adult 1-7 in the nation to write a loving letter to a child or children in 1-8 his or her life; a simple written message to let children know 1-9 they are important, loved, and appreciated can make a lasting, 1-10 powerful impact on their lives; and 1-11 WHEREAS, One of the country's oldest and largest 1-12 organizations for young people, Camp Fire conducted extensive 1-13 background research to support the value of letter writing and 1-14 is seeking the support and participation of all adults so that 1-15 children of every age receive at least one letter; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Founded in 1938, the Tejas Council of Camp Fire 1-17 serves 10,000 youths in Waco and Central Texas and is sponsoring 1-18 Absolutely Incredible Kid Day to encourage adults to take time 1-19 to send a written message to a child; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, 1-21 neighbors, educators, mentors, and even strangers can touch 1-22 the lives of many children, including those in multiple-risk 1-23 situations; and 2-1 WHEREAS, A handwritten note expressing the writer's 2-2 positive feelings for the child can be read and reread and 2-3 cherished for years to come; the Absolutely Incredible Kid Day 2-4 is about making the time to communicate love and commitment to 2-5 children; now, therefore, be it 2-6 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-7 75th Legislature, hereby proclaim March 20, 1997, Absolutely 2-8 Incredible Kid Day. 2-9 ______________________________________ 2-10 President of the Senate 2-11 I hereby certify that the above 2-12 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-13 on March 10, 1997. 2-14 ______________________________________ 2-15 Secretary of the Senate 2-16 ______________________________________ 2-17 Member, Texas Senate
