 1-3                                  In Memory

 1-4                                     of

 1-5                            Virginia Cox Obriotti

 1-6           WHEREAS, The citizens of San Antonio mourned the loss of one

 1-7     of the city's beloved residents, Virginia Cox Obriotti, who died

 1-8     February 13, 1997; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, A kind and sympathetic lady, Mrs. Obriotti will be

1-10     remembered with gratitude for her generosity and warm hospitality;

1-11     and

1-12           WHEREAS, Born in Martinsville, Indiana, Ginny arrived in Texas

1-13     during World War II and worked at Fort Sam Houston, where she met

1-14     her future husband, Jake Obriotti; the couple became the parents

1-15     of six wonderful children, and Ginny devoted her life to providing

1-16     a nurturing home for her family; and

1-17           WHEREAS, Mrs. Obriotti welcomed her children's many friends,

1-18     and her house became their "haven"; she offered support and

1-19     encouragement to young people throughout her life; and

1-20           WHEREAS, Besides her love for her family, one of her special

1-21     pleasures was celebrating Saint Patrick's Day with her friend

1-22     Kay Molak in honor of their Irish heritage; and

1-23           WHEREAS, An avid gardener and horsewoman, Mrs. Obriotti also

 2-1     took an interest in her community and volunteered her time and

 2-2     energies to many organizations; and

 2-3           WHEREAS, Virginia Obriotti leaves a legacy of compassion and

 2-4     commitment that will continue to live in the memories of all who

 2-5     were fortunate to share the friendship of this esteemed individual;

 2-6     now, therefore, be it

 2-7           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

 2-8     75th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the

 2-9     family of Virginia Cox Obriotti:  her sons and daughter-in-law,

2-10     Jake Obriotti, Jr., and D. G. and Colleen Goff; her daughters and

2-11     sons-in-law, Cathy Obriotti and Paul Green, Susan and Jack Moravcik,

2-12     Ginger and Larry Walsh, and JoJo and Donald Tiller; and her four

2-13     grandchildren; and, be it further

2-14           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her

2-15     family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate,

2-16     and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of

2-17     Virginia Cox Obriotti.
