 1-2                              SENATE RESOLUTION

 1-3           WHEREAS, It has been said in business that nothing happens

 1-4     until a sale is made, and two of the most important aspects of a

 1-5     successful business are the sales and marketing of a product; and

 1-6           WHEREAS, The Texas Senate takes pleasure in commending

 1-7     Leonard H. Roberts, president of Tandy Corporation, on his

 1-8     designation as Distinguished Sales and Marketing Executive of

 1-9     the Year by the Sales and Marketing Executives of Fort Worth; and

1-10           WHEREAS, Sixty-eight years ago, the Sales and Marketing

1-11     Executives of Fort Worth was established to improve and promote

1-12     the marketing and sales efforts of businesses in Fort Worth; and

1-13           WHEREAS, Also president of Tandy's Radio Shack, Mr. Roberts

1-14     is being honored for the outstanding work he has done for the

1-15     national chain; and

1-16           WHEREAS, Known for his accomplishments in guiding Shoney's

1-17     Restaurants to greater financial success, Mr. Roberts will

1-18     receive his award at an awards banquet to be held on March 21, 1997,

1-19     at the Worthington Hotel; and

1-20           WHEREAS, Renowned for his ability to energize people and

1-21     profits, Leonard Roberts is a true leader; his ability to come

1-22     into a new company and garner the support of the workforce has

1-23     been most impressive; now, therefore, be it

 2-1           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

 2-2     75th Legislature, hereby congratulate Leonard H. Roberts on his

 2-3     selection as Distinguished Sales and Marketing Executive of the

 2-4     Year; and, be it further

 2-5           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him

 2-6     as an expression of the high regard and esteem of the Texas Senate.
