 1-2                              SENATE RESOLUTION

 1-3           WHEREAS, The Texas Senate is proud to honor the Brenham

 1-4     Baseball Alumni Association for its significant efforts on behalf

 1-5     of Brenham High School; and

 1-6           WHEREAS, Throughout the organization's history, members of

 1-7     the Brenham Baseball Alumni Association have promoted the sport of

 1-8     baseball at their alma mater, giving freely of their time, talents,

 1-9     and resources to ensure that students at Brenham High School are

1-10     afforded the same joy from America's favorite pastime that their

1-11     predecessors have enjoyed; and

1-12           WHEREAS, On March 21, 1997, the Brenham Baseball Alumni

1-13     Association will dedicate a new clubhouse building at Fireman's

1-14     Park; this outstanding facility features artwork and photographs

1-15     of past Brenham baseball playoff teams, as well as college and

1-16     professional players who began their careers at the school; and

1-17           WHEREAS, The Brenham High School baseball teams'

1-18     remarkable legacy of excellence includes 11 state tournament

1-19     appearances and six state championships, and the program is one

1-20     of the most storied and respected in the Lone Star State; and

1-21           WHEREAS, Former Brenham High School players who have risen

1-22     to the top of their sport as players for professional baseball teams

1-23     include Jimmy Plant, Jackie Heidemann, Chuck Machemehl, Otto Kemper,

 2-1     Cecil Cooper, Mark Kuecker, Gary Weiss, Ricky Seilheimer, John Wood,

 2-2     David Crowson, Chris Graves, Carl Sullivan, James Nix, John Schulte,

 2-3     Eric Richardson, George Preston, and Jordan Zimmerman; and

 2-4           WHEREAS, The citizens of Brenham are justly renowned

 2-5     for their love of baseball, and by helping to preserve the rich

 2-6     baseball heritage at Brenham High School, the Brenham Baseball

 2-7     Alumni Association is performing a community service truly worthy

 2-8     of special legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it

 2-9           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

2-10     75th Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Brenham

2-11     Baseball Alumni Association for their significant contributions to

2-12     the students of Brenham High School and extend sincere best wishes

2-13     to them for continued success in the future; and, be it further

2-14           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared

2-15     for the Brenham Baseball Alumni Association as an expression of high

2-16     regard by the Texas Senate.
