 1-2                              SENATE RESOLUTION

 1-3           WHEREAS, It is indeed a distinct honor for the Texas Senate

 1-4     to welcome the Brazosport College Choral Union to the State Capitol

 1-5     on March 25, 1997; and

 1-6           WHEREAS, Under the direction of Rodney Mason, Director of

 1-7     Choral Activities, the group will perform in the Capitol rotunda

 1-8     in celebration of Brazoria County Day at the State Capitol; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, The Brazosport College Choral Union is in its

1-10     eighth year and has performed with the Brazosport Symphony

1-11     Orchestra on many occasions, including the performances of

1-12     Mozart's Requiem and Handel's Messiah; in addition to

1-13     its annual fall, Christmas, and winter concerts, it has performed

1-14     in Carnegie Hall in New York City as part of a massed choir; and

1-15           WHEREAS, The Brazosport College Choir dates back to the

1-16     1970s and was combined with the Brazosport Civic Chorus to form

1-17     the Brazosport College Choral Union, which has brought

1-18     outstanding choral music to delighted audiences; and

1-19           WHEREAS, The members of the College Choir are Brisa Alvarado,

1-20     Julian Rodriguez, Emily Broadway, Erin Seiwell, Amy Carroll,

1-21     Carol Smith, Billy Conner, Jenny Townsend, Amy Dencker, Ruben Trejo,

1-22     Heidi Fields, Joy Zavisch, Cari Haagensen, Lindsey Alexander,

1-23     Heather Hightower, Ellen Barrett, Phillip Hintze, Michael Burns,

 2-1     Elisabeth Johnston, Joe Cardenas, Isaac Johnston, Donna Dunlap,

 2-2     Kimberly Jud, Christian Fisher, Heather Lee, Melissa Knode,

 2-3     Aimee Lindsey, Carrie Legrand, Carol Loveless, Jennea Newsome,

 2-4     Heather Murchison, Lance Reece, Ilene Naumann, Amanda Shilt,

 2-5     Eric Nelson, Julia Vowell, Shane Newby, Carrie Hale, Joshua Powell,

 2-6     Daniel Salazar, and Mary Stowers; and

 2-7           WHEREAS, The Civic Chorus members are JoAnne Alcorn,

 2-8     Hannah Bundick, Rachel Bundick, Ruth Bundick, Alberta Bundick,

 2-9     Dana Craigie, Chris Cowan, Ann Hawkins, Roy Kimmel, John Lastovica,

2-10     Tina Lastovica, Joann Magee, Leslie McClerkin, Kurt Ruthstrom,

2-11     Mary Stowers, Doug Sturgis, Susan Sturgis, Carnelia Thurman,

2-12     Mark Viraian, Lee Williams, Joycelynn Grigson, Matt DeAthos, and

2-13     Kate Merkling; now, therefore, be it

2-14           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

2-15     75th Legislature, hereby recognize the Brazosport College Choral

2-16     Union and commend its members on their exemplary achievements; and,

2-17     be it further

2-18           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be presented to the

2-19     choir as an expression of the high esteem of the Texas Senate.
