1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 385

        1-2           WHEREAS, The Senate of Texas is pleased to congratulate

        1-3     the Mother-Daughter Program of El Paso on being selected for the

        1-4     prestigious Eleanor Roosevelt Fund Award; and

        1-5           WHEREAS, The Eleanor Roosevelt Fund Award was instituted to

        1-6     reward projects, individuals, or institutions that work to achieve

        1-7     equity in education; and

        1-8           WHEREAS, The award is given annually by the American

        1-9     Association of University Women's Educational Foundation; and

       1-10           WHEREAS, The program received the award, including an

       1-11     honorarium, because it has such an impact on the lives of women

       1-12     and girls and for its groundbreaking work for fundamental change

       1-13     in the education of women; and

       1-14           WHEREAS, Winners of the award need to demonstrate support

       1-15     of the foundation's goals; the director of the 11-year-old program

       1-16     of The University of Texas at El Paso will accept the award at the

       1-17     American Association of University Women's convention in June in

       1-18     Anaheim, California; now, therefore, be it

       1-19           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

       1-20     75th Legislature, hereby commend the Mother-Daughter Program

       1-21     of El Paso on winning this outstanding award; and, be it further

       1-22           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for

       1-23     the program as an expression of the high regard of the Texas Senate.
