1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 394

        1-2           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in

        1-3     recognizing Max Pratt, who has been selected for the 1996 Citizen

        1-4     of the Year Award by the Ballinger Junior Chamber of Commerce; and

        1-5           WHEREAS, Max Pratt is well known for his many years of

        1-6     outstanding work with the youths and adults of the Ballinger

        1-7     community; and

        1-8           WHEREAS, A dedicated and active volunteer, he has supported

        1-9     and assisted innumerable Ballinger High School students; he has

       1-10     announced Bearcat games, has served as a director for three years

       1-11     for Christmas in April, and has been involved in T-ball, Little

       1-12     League, and Band Booster Club; and

       1-13           WHEREAS, He also generously devotes time and energy to adults

       1-14     and the elderly; he is a substitute driver for Meals on Wheels,

       1-15     helps the elderly and disabled with the installation of emergency

       1-16     response systems, and has taught practical parenting classes; and

       1-17           WHEREAS, Mr. Pratt has served as a minister for the Ninth

       1-18     Street Church of Christ for over 21 years and was one of the

       1-19     cofounders of the Active Inmate Jail Ministry; he is the news editor

       1-20     for the Gospel Tidings, a religious publication distributed monthly

       1-21     throughout the United States; and

       1-22           WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman and inspirational minister,

       1-23     Max Pratt is a source of strength to many, and his hard work and

        2-1     countless community projects reflect his dedication to helping his

        2-2     fellowman; now, therefore, be it

        2-3           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

        2-4     75th Legislature, hereby commend Max Pratt on his exceptional

        2-5     achievements and generosity and extend congratulations to him on

        2-6     his selection as Citizen of the Year; and, be it further

        2-7           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him

        2-8     as a token of esteem from the Texas Senate.
