 1-4                                     of

 1-5                               Grady C. Hogue

 1-6           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the

 1-7     citizens of Beeville, Texas, in mourning the death of civic leader

 1-8     Grady C. Hogue at the age of 71; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, A truly patriotic American, Mr. Hogue valiantly

1-10     served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II; and

1-11           WHEREAS, A former state representative, Mr. Hogue served two

1-12     terms representing Henderson, Van Zandt, and Rains counties during

1-13     the 53rd Legislature and 54th Legislature; and

1-14           WHEREAS, Well known as Bee County College's first president,

1-15     this distinguished gentleman was head of the college from 1966

1-16     through 1983; and

1-17           WHEREAS, Coming out of retirement in 1988, Grady Hogue became

1-18     the economic development coordinator for the City of Beeville until

1-19     1992; and

1-20           WHEREAS, As economic development coordinator, he concentrated

1-21     most of his efforts on getting his city selected as the site for a

1-22     state prison; in 1989, Beeville was chosen to house the McConnell

1-23     Unit of the state prison system; and

 2-1           WHEREAS, An exemplary and notable man, Grady Hogue was highly

 2-2     esteemed for his many accomplishments and was a respected leader in

 2-3     his town and state; and

 2-4           WHEREAS, Mr. Hogue leaves a legacy of compassion and

 2-5     commitment that will be remembered with gratitude by all those who

 2-6     knew and loved him; now, therefore, be it

 2-7           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

 2-8     75th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the members

 2-9     of his family:  his wife, Mabel Hogue; his daughters, Mary Amon,

2-10     Claudia Shugart, and Debbie Parsons; his sons, Grady Hogue, Jr., and

2-11     John Hogue; and his sisters, Geraldine Castleberry and Sue Webb;

2-12     and, be it further

2-13           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his

2-14     family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate,

2-15     and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of

2-16     Grady C. Hogue.
