1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 409 1-3 In Memory 1-4 of 1-5 Oscar Andres Elizondo 1-6 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens 1-7 of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Oscar Andres Elizondo, who 1-8 died March 15, 1997, at the age of 78; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Born February 4, 1919, Oscar Elizondo served 1-10 in the United States Army during World War II and attended 1-11 Texas A&M University; and 1-12 WHEREAS, He became an active and dynamic businessman who 1-13 managed La Gloria Food Market after his father's death and founded 1-14 La Gloria Superette, which he managed for 10 years; he cofounded 1-15 a poultry farm near Monterrey, Mexico, and spent 10 years managing 1-16 movie theaters in El Paso, Austin, Fort Worth, and San Antonio; 1-17 and 1-18 WHEREAS, A man of extensive expertise and talent, he owned 1-19 and managed the highly popular La Tapatia Mexican Food restaurant 1-20 and the adjoining La Canasta Tortilla Factory for 15 years until 1-21 his retirement in 1993; and 1-22 WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman, Oscar Elizondo was 1-23 respected for his many accomplishments and was a beloved leader 2-1 in his community; he was a benefactor of the Nemo Herrera 2-2 Scholarship Foundation, which helps five young men a year to 2-3 receive college educations; and 2-4 WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, he 2-5 gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom, warmth, 2-6 and sense of humor will not be forgotten by those who knew him; 2-7 and 2-8 WHEREAS, Oscar Elizondo was a devout Christian and a devoted 2-9 husband who lived his life to the fullest, and he leaves behind 2-10 memories that will be treasured forever by his family and many 2-11 friends; now, therefore, be it 2-12 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-13 75th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the 2-14 bereaved family of Oscar Andres Elizondo: his wife of 51 years, 2-15 Rosalinda E. Elizondo; his daughter, Patricia I. Elizondo; his 2-16 brothers, Dr. Cesar M. Elizondo and Delmiro I. Elizondo; and his 2-17 sister, M.
