1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 453 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of Texas takes pleasure in recognizing 1-3 Chad Graham, who was selected one of the 48 statewide winners in 1-4 the second annual Texas Adopt-A-Beach Program's "Treasures of the 1-5 Texas Coast" children's art contest; and 1-6 WHEREAS, A sixth-grade student at Early Middle School in 1-7 Early, Chad created a poster featuring a pristine turquoise ocean 1-8 with a setting sun reflected in the water and a treasure chest on 1-9 a spotless beach; and 1-10 WHEREAS, The children's art contest helps to spread the 1-11 message about not polluting the streams, waterways, and beaches 1-12 in Texas, and it is sponsored by the Texas General Land Office, 1-13 Oshman's SuperSports USA, Southwest Airlines, and the American 1-14 Plastics Council; and 1-15 WHEREAS, The gratifying response to the contest brought in 1-16 over 6,400 imaginative entries from schoolchildren across the 1-17 state; and 1-18 WHEREAS, The winners of the contest will have their entries 1-19 included in a museum quality poster showing all the art of the 48 1-20 winners; and 1-21 WHEREAS, The poster contest was originated to emphasize 1-22 the fact that Texas beaches belong to all Texans, and cooperation 1-23 is needed to keep the beaches and streams free of litter; now, 2-1 therefore, be it 2-2 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-3 75th Legislature, hereby commend Chad Graham on his excellent work 2-4 of art and wish him the best of luck in the future; and, be it 2-5 further 2-6 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-7 him as an expression of the highest regard and esteem of the 2-8 Texas Senate. 2-9 Haywood 2-10 ______________________________________ 2-11 President of the Senate 2-12 I hereby certify that the above 2-13 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-14 on April 8, 1997. 2-15 ______________________________________ 2-16 Secretary of the Senate 2-17 ______________________________________ 2-18 Member, Texas Senate
